MC311 Call Center Has New TTY Phone Number for Deaf/Hearing/Speech-Impaired Callers
|
Montgomery County’s Customer Service Center, MC311, for non-emergency government information and services is now using a new Text Telephone (TTY) phone number. A TTY is a special device that lets people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or speech-impaired use the telephone to communicate, by allowing them to type messages back and forth to one another instead of talking and listening. The new number to call for a TTY connection is 301-251-4850. Those who use the Maryland or Video Relay services should contact the MC311 customer service center by dialing the number used when calling from outside the County: 240-777-0311. Regular callers from inside the County need only to dial 3-1-1.
MC311 was launched in June of 2010 to provide a single, one-stop phone number for service requests, information, and complaints and a web portal where County residents could enter their own requests, get their own information, and track the progress of the work requested.
MC311 is open to take calls Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Online access is available anytime, day or night, at http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov. The MC311 call center may also be activated outside of its regular business hours during an emergency such as a hurricane or a severe winter storm.
