|Guitar Concert Scheduled at Marilyn J. Praisner Library|
Guitarist Vladimir Fridman will perform a program of guitar music from different countries and genres, including Spanish, Russian, classical, Latin-American, Jewish, jazz and his own compositions. The program will take place at the Marilyn J. Praisner Library, 14910 Old Columbia Pike, Burtonsville, on Saturday, January 12 at 3 p.m.
Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, Marilyn J. Praisner Chapter, the program is suitable for children over the age of five and adults.
Fridman and his musical group, Gypsy Strings, won a WAMMIES Award in 2001 for their album called Ole Guapa. A member of both Gypsy Strings and TransAtlantic Duo, Fridman also frequently performs solo and with other leading musicians. He has released several solo albums, including “Russian Romances,” “Klezmer Reflections” and “Russian Reflections.” Other recordings include “Spanning the Globe” with the Music Pilgrim Trio and “TransAtlantic Dreams” with the TransAtlantic Duo.
Fridman has taught guitar for more than 20 years and many of his students have received awards at Maryland State Guitar competitions. He created a student band with several of his students called, “Jazz Chameleon.”
