Applicants Sought for Bethesda Transportation Management District Advisory Committee

The Western Montgomery County Citizens Advisory Board is seeking applicants to fill one vacancy on the Bethesda Transportation Management District (TMD) Advisory Committee. The nominee must reside in a neighborhood adjacent to the Bethesda Transportation Management District or in the Town of Chevy Chase. The TMD map is available at www.bethesdatransit.org/about-us.shtml.

Transportation management organizations manage transportation demand and promote carpooling and use of public transportation. Bethesda Transportation Solutions (BTS) focuses on traffic assessment, pedestrian safety, parking and the need for capital improvements in the business district. A major focus is promoting programs for transit and ridesharing with employers and employees in the Bethesda urban district.

BTS is administered by the Bethesda Urban Partnership through a grant agreement with the County Department of Transportation (MCDOT). The TMD Advisory Committee advises the Partnership’s Board of Directors and MCDOT on local transportation needs.

Members serve three-year terms without compensation and meet every other month on the third Friday morning in downtown Bethesda.

Applicants should send a brief resume detailing pertinent experience, interests and community activities no later than August 15 to the Western Montgomery County Citizens Advisory Board, 4805 Edgemoor Lane, Bethesda, MD 20814.
