I am proud to announce that today Montgomery County signed a partnership agreement with the State of Maryland and the National Institute for Standards and Technology to operate the National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE), the nation’s hub of civil cybersecurity. The center puts Montgomery County at the forefront of an emerging economic boom that will help the nation meet one if its most pressing challenges.
I want to thank U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski for her steadfast leadership in this effort and Governor Martin O’Malley for his continuing support to bolster our local and statewide economy through the creation of new cyber sector businesses and jobs.
The NCCoE will accelerate innovation in the rapidly expanding area of cybersecurity, stimulating public and private sector organizations to collaboratively develop cybersecurity solutions. The center will also help leverage government and private cybersecurity investments that will further expand economic development and boost small and start-up businesses.
The NCCoE marks a unique and exciting collaboration among all levels of government. Montgomery County looks forward to being the nation’s leading location for civil cybersecurity solutions, business growth and job creation.
