The Poolesville Beauty Spot is located in the Poolesville Highway Maintenance Depot. It accepts residential loads of bulky trash up to 499 pounds.

Hours of operation

Saturday and Sunday: open 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m
Monday through Friday: closed

Holiday Closures

Throughout the winter, the Poolesville Beauty Spot will close whenever the Highway Services Depot, in which it is located, needs to switch over to salting and snow removal operations. When possible, we send out closure notifications.

Why is it called a "Beauty Spot"?

When it was opened, this facility was intended to discourage roadside dumping by providing a convenient drop-off location for bulky waste at no charge. That would “beautify” the surrounding Upcounty area, and led to the name “Beauty Spot”.

This facility does not accept:

commercial waste
regular household trash
scrap metal
yard trim

This facility accepts these materials:

   antifreeze
   fencing
   lumber / wood / demolition debris
   mattresses
   trash, bulky
