Book reuse

If you wish to find new homes for your books, consider donating the books to any of the local book sales sponsored by nonprofit organizations and schools. For a list of suggestions, visit our online "Use It Again" guide. Select "Books" from the drop-down Category menu, and click on "Donate it".

The Montgomery County Public Libraries also accept books for donation.

Book recycling

We accept:

• hardcover books
• paperback/softcover books
• telephone books

Please add these to your weekly paper recycling collection. You do not need to remove the covers.

You may also bring your books directly to the Shady Grove Transfer Station and Processing Facility. Place them into the "Mixed Paper" container.

Sorry, we cannot accept leather-bound books for recycling.
