How to recycle/dispose of plastic bags

Curbside collection: Weekly - trash
County facilities accepting plastic bags:
* Shady Grove Processing Facility & Transfer Station

Where can I recycle plastic bags, films and wraps?

Please recycle plastic bags and other types of plastic film at local grocery and retail stores throughout the County. Look for collection bins near store entrances.

Sorry, we do not accept plastic bags or film for recycling at our Montgomery County facilities or in our curbside recycling programs. The Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station accepts these materials as trash.

What plastic bags, films and wraps are accepted in store recycling programs?

Grocery and retail store plastic bag recycling drop-offs generally accept all clean, dry plastic bags labeled #2 or #4. This includes plastic newspaper sleeves and dry-cleaning bags, as well as most plastic wrapping covering paper towel rolls, tissue boxes, and cases of water. Remember to remove receipts and other papers from bags before recycling them.
