How to recycle/dispose of ash

Curbside collection: No
County facilities accepting ash:
* Shady Grove Processing Facility & Transfer Station

Haulers do not accept ash from your fireplace or barbecue with regular household trash. We accept it at our Solid Waste Transfer Station in designated ash containers for disposal.

If you deliver your ash by car

The Transfer Station's Public Unloading Facility (PUF) — also called the "Car Ramp"— has several steel drums specifically for ash disposal. These drums are located between trash drop-off bays.  We make sure the ash has cooled off, and then we take it to our rubble drop-off area for disposal.

If you deliver your ash by truck

If you arrive by truck at the Shady Grove Road entrance, please speak to the scale house staff for further instructions.

Why worry about ash disposal?

The concern with ash is always that it could be hot, and therefore, a fire hazard.

What to expect at the Transfer Station

Car entrance to trash drop-off bays
If bringing your ash by car, drive up to the Trash Drop-off Bays at the Public Unloading Facility.
