Friable asbestos

Friable, or loose, asbestos should only be removed and disposed of by a trained contractor. An example is asbestos insulation.

For more information, including a list of licensed contractors, contact the Maryland Department of the Environment's Air and Radiation Management Administration:

Non-friable asbestos

Non-friable asbestos, like asbestos floor tiles, shingles, and siding may be included in your regular household trash. You may also take these materials to the Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station. Separate them into a trash bag.
