Deadline nears to sign up for free Bikeshare program

MCDOT offers a grant-funded transportation program known as "JARC--Job Access Reverse Commute". JARC allows community members to participate in bikeshare for free if they meet certain income eligibility requirements. Signing up for the program is simple but the deadline to do so is coming fast.

Under the JARC program, qualifying participants receives a free bikeshare membership. There's also free bike safety training, a free helmet and route planning for up to one year. MCDOT's Commuter Services received a grant to provide Capital Bikeshare services for free to low-income populations in the county. The program is designed to improve travel options for low-income commuters who are employed in the county, or enrolled in job training or educational programs.

JARC is only available for a limited time. Those who are currently receiving assistance through any Montgomery County social services program or qualify through other low-income criteria, can apply for JARC by using a registration form. For information, contact Commuter Services at (240) 777-8380 or email them..
