The Division of Transportation Engineering (DTE) will soon start construction of a new sidewalk and curb and gutter along the north side of Dale Drive between Mansfield Road and Hartford Avenue in Silver Spring. Construction will begin in July, 2012. The project is expected to take 15 months to complete.
Accessible pedestrian routes will be provided and maintained to the maximum extent feasible throughout the project's limits. When an existing pedestrian access route within the public right-of-way is blocked by construction, alteration, or maintenance activities, an alternate accessible pedestrian route will be provided.
This project encompasses the construction of a five-foot wide sidewalk, approximately 1,900 linear feet long, along the north side of Dale Drive as well as curb and gutter between Mansfield Road and Hartford Avenue. This project also includes the installation of retaining walls, and water mains, partial removal/installation of stairways and driveways. Additionally, upgrades (removal, replacement and new installation) to the existing
storm drain system will take place, as well as the installation of the Stormceptor® for stormwater treatment system. The Stormceptor® system is a water quality treatment device used to remove pollutants from storm water run-off.
Throughout the construction process, a full-time County representative will be present on the job site during the hours of construction to oversee the construction progress, monitor the work zone for pedestrian and traffic safety and to answer questions that you may have about the project.
