 Update on five road maintenance projects in local subdivisions

 

Several new road maintenance projects by the Division of Highway Services are beginning in local subdivisions.

Paving projects, in which crews will resurface the local streets with hot mix asphalt:

* Jones Lane (North Potomac area) to begin on or about October 8, 2012. The project should take 2-4 weeks with construction occurring between the hours of 9 am and 4 pm.

* Rolling Terrace subdivision (Takoma Park area) to begin on or about October 8, 2012. The project should take 3-4 weeks with construction occurring between the hours of 7 am and 5 pm.

Permanent patching projects, in which crews make structural, permanent patches to the road, a cost effective interim solution to maintain roadway structural integrity based upon current funding allocations:

* Watch for a future announcement of upcoming projects.

Pavement preservation projects, in which crews will be undertaking pavement preservation work. This will entail full depth patching of pavement deteriorations, crack sealing, and application of a micro resurfacing material.

* Watch for a future announcement of upcoming projects.

Concrete curb, gutter, and sidewalk repairs, in which crews will be replacing defection sections of curbs or sidewalks to ensure structural integrity, proper drainage, and avoidance of tripping hazards. Under this operation, residents will be able to take advantage of discounts for concrete work under the driveway apron and lead walk repair program. Upcoming projects include:

* Foxhall Community (Glenmont area) concrete repair to begin on or about September 24, 2012.  The project will take 6–8 weeks to complete and construction work will be scheduled between the hours of 7am and 6pm Monday - Friday.

* River Falls Community (Potomac area) concrete repair to begin on or about September 24, 2012. The project will take 6–8 weeks to complete and construction work will be scheduled between the hours of 7am and 6pm Monday - Friday.

* Stoneybrook Estates Community (Aspen Hill area) concrete repair to begin in late September, 2012. The project will take 6–8 weeks to complete and construction work will be scheduled between the hours of 7am and 6pm Monday - Friday.
