The work at the site formally housing the Division of Parking Management's parking lot at the corner of Bethesda Avenue-Woodmont Avenue in Bethesda continues. This lot was designated Lot 31 by MCDOT. The new develpment, when finally completed, will feature some 940 underground, public parking spaces. Here's an update on the project. Text in italics is new information since the last MCDOT News update.
* On the construction site: Even with all the rain this past week, the construction team is still making progress on pouring the concrete parking decks. Currently on the west side of the site they’ve started the framing of the G1 parking deck and are hoping to be at grade by the end of the month. Construction continues to flow from west to east in a “stair step” pattern. Along the east side of the site, they’re excavating the final foundation footers and are getting ready to pour the final sections of the foundation slab on grade. The mass excavation and hauling of dirt and rock is now complete. A significantly smaller quantity of truckloads will be removed with the last footer and foundation excavations on the east side over the next few weeks.
* Woodmont Avenue Closure and other road impacts: Automobile traffic is reminded that Woodmont Avenue remains closed from Miller to Bethesda. Only automobiles with business on Miller or who live off Miller Avenue should enter Woodmont Avenue northbound at Wisconsin.
* Capital Crescent Trail restoration: The overhead protection of the trail is in place and the restoration of the trail immediately adjacent to Lot 31 has been completed.
