| In late April, the Division of Transportation Engineering will start construction of a new 10-foot bike path from Shady Grove Road to Redland Road. The path will travel along the east side of the Shady Grove Metro access road. The path will access the Metro station and also Crabbs Branch Way.
The project includes raised crosswalks and speed humps on the access road. It will serve some ten communities within two miles. The path will connect to a sidewalk and bikeway network in the vicinity, including existing or proposed facilities on Shady Grove Road, Crabbs Branch Way, Redland Road, Needwood Road, the Midcounty Highway, and the Intercounty Connector/MD200.
The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority provided land for the project at no charge to the County. The project was also approved for Federal funding, which was allocated to the State.
