County Executive Isiah Leggett is seeking applicants to fill five vacancies on the Adult Public Guardianship Review Board. The vacancies are for a public health nurse, a lawyer, a layperson from the public at large, a person with a physical disability, and a physician. The incumbent lawyer and public member are eligible to apply for reappointment.
The 11-member board includes a professional from the Dept. of Health and Human Services, two physicians, including a psychiatrist from the Dept. of Health and Human Services, a representative of the Commission on Aging, a professional from a local non-profit social service organization, a public health nurse, a lawyer, a professional in the field of disabilities, a person with a physical disability, and two lay individuals from the public-at-large. The board is responsible for reviewing each adult public guardianship at least twice a year.
Members of the Adult Public Guardianship Review Board serve three-year terms without compensation, but are eligible for reimbursement for travel and dependent care for meetings attended. Meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Members of County boards, committees and commissions may not serve on more than one such group at a time. Leggett’s appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council. Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the confirmation process.
