 Leggett to Announce Expanded Recycling Program

County Executive Ike Leggett (far right) holds up a plastic laundry basket, one of the household items that can now be brought to the County’s Solid Waste Processing Facility and Transfer Station on Rte. 355 and Shady Grove Rd for recycling. Joining Leggett for the announcement and holding other items on the new list were Bob Hoyt, director of the Department of Environmental Protection and Eileen Kao, chief, Waste Reduction and Recycling Section of the Division of Solid Waste Services. Included among the many bulk rigid plastic items that can now be recycled are dish drainers, toys; lawn furniture; waste baskets; clothes hangers; tote boxes; crates; large buckets; pet carriers; and garbage cans.
