Respect the Bus, Donít get Bus-ted!

Automated school bus camera enforcement has begun in the County. All drivers should know that it is against the law to pass a stopped school bus with flashing red lights. Under those circumstances, Maryland law requires that motorists traveling in the same direction as the bus must stop and that drivers approaching the bus from the opposite direction must also stop unless there is a physical barrier, such as a median to separate traffic going in two directions. Violators captured by the cameras mounted on school buses will receive a fine of $125.00. See news release and fact sheet for more information.
