Mission Statement

The primary mission of the Montgomery County Circuit Court Law Library is to support legal research activities of the Court, the Bar and the public.


Who May Use the Law Library?

The Montgomery County Circuit Court Law Library is open to the public.  However, individuals serving on a jury trial in the Circuit Court are not admitted to the Law Library until their jury duty is completed.

When Can I Use the Law Library?

The Law Library’s hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

What is Included in the Law Library Collection?

The Law Library has a comprehensive collection of legal materials, including U.S. statutes, the codes of Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia, and local ordinances.  It has a complete collection of state judicial opinions and a variety of subject treatises and reference materials.  The Law Library also offers free access to the major on-line legal databases.

What Services are Available at the Law Library?

Computers:
Computers are available for public access to on-line legal research databases, the internet and word processing.  Printing documents from the library printer is $.25 per page.  Free wireless Internet access is also offered throughout the Law Library.

Photocopies:
A photocopier is available.
B/W Copying is 25¢
Color Copying is 50¢

Facsimile (fax):
The Law Library offers incoming and outgoing fax service.  The cost for faxes within the U.S. is $.50 per page.  Faxing services outside the U.S. are not available.

Circulation:
Law Library materials may not be checked out.

Reference:
Law Library staff is available to answer questions regarding the library and its collection but cannot give legal opinions or advice.  The staff will provide limited assistance over the telephone at (240)777-9120 and e-mail at lawlibrary@mcccourt.com.

Conference Rooms
Rooms are available for reservation for court business, attorney conference or depositions. Please call (240)777-9120 or e-mail at lawlibrary@mcccourt.com to reserve rooms.

Notice Regarding Building access to the Montgomery County Circuit Court:

  • The building will open at 7:30 AM Monday through Friday.
  • The building will close at 6:00 PM on Monday and Friday, and at 8:00 PM Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

(Effective Date:4/12/2013) Please pardon our construction progress!!

The Montgomery County Circuit Court is expanding and as we renovate the court and construct a new annex, please follow our progress at Please follow our progress at Judicial Center Annex website.

Due to construction, the Montgomery County Circuit Court Maryland Avenue entrance to the Judicial Center will be closed to staff and pedestrian traffic for approximately 6 months starting on or about September 10, 2012. Signage will be posted on and around the exterior of the building as well as in the Rockville Core area directing people to enter through the Monroe Street side of the building or the Terrace level entrance from the Executive Office Building.

Almost the entire atrium portion of the Lobby will be blocked from usage, therefore space will be tight and we ask for your indulgence. Again, please pardon our progress and thank you for your patience.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE: All Sheriff's sales and other legal auctions have moved to the Judicial Center's Monroe Street Entrance. Attorney, law enforcement, juror, employee and all other pedestrian access to the Judicial Center will be exclusively through the Monroe Street or Montgomery County Executive Office Building cafeteria entrances.
