A former Olney resident has been arrested for Arson (Second Degree), Malicious Burning (First Degree) and Violating a Court Protective Order. Mark A. Tetter, age 19, of Boonsboro, (Washington County) Maryland was arrested this morning without incident at a location in Middletown, (Frederick County) Maryland. He is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center, in Rockville.
Just before 1 a.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2006 units from the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service responded to the report of a vehicle fire in the 18100 block of Ivy Lane, in Olney. First arriving firefighters encountered a 1996 Saturn passenger vehicle totally engulfed in flame. The fire was quickly extinguished. There were no injuries. Damage to the car was a total loss.
Fire Investigators were called to the scene and determined the fire was incendiary in nature and was classified as arson. Neighbors immediately came forward with information that, after an investigation, provided Fire and Explosive Investigators with a person of interest. This person, Mark A. Tetter, a former resident of the Olney area, was familiar to Montgomery County Fire and Explosive Investigators and area law enforcement agencies. In addition, a family member of the victim whose car was set on fire had recently received a restraining order from Mr. Tetter, an ex-boyfriend.
