Gaithersburg Man Arrested for Explosives, Weapons
MontgomeryCounty Fire and Explosive Investigators follow tip; Large amount of explosives, chemicals and weapons recovered without incident
On Wednesday, May 21, 2008, Bomb Squad personnel assigned with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Fire and Explosive Investigations arrested James L. Boka, age 47, of 9132 Turtle Dove Terrace, Gaithersburg, Maryland. He was charged with several counts of explosive related offenses. Other weapons and associated charges are pending. He is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center, in Rockville.
Recent surveillance led to the arrest by Montgomery County Fire and Explosive Investigators. On Wednesday a search warrant was executed at 9132 Turtle Dove Terrace, in Gaithersburg. Assisting with the search of the Turtle Dove Terrace address, were investigators from the Montgomery County Fire and Explosive Investigations Bomb Squad, Montgomery County Department of Police Firearms Unit, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (A.T.F.), Federal Bureau of Investigations (F.B.I.) and the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service Hazardous Materials Unit.
While searching the location Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service Hazmat Unit personnel discovered and removed 46 different types, and over 230 pounds of chemicals that are commonly used to produce energetic powders (fireworks/destructive devices) which were recovered in a house located at Turtle Dove Road, in Gaithersburg.This case is still under investigation and more charges are expected.
