Fire Chief and County Executive to Recognize Swiftwater Rescue Team Efforts

Nine motorists were rescued from their partially submerged vehicles following the recent River Road water main break:

County Executive Ike Leggett along with fire Chief Richard Bowers will recognize first responders and particularly members of the County’s River Rescue and Tactical Service Team for their skill in rescuing a total of nine motorists, including six motorist aided by fire and rescue crews and three assisted by helicopters from the torrent of water that that trapped them in their vehicles when a major water main broke along River Road on December 23, 2008.
