Medical Emergency at the U.S. Open

Rockville  - - - An adult male suffered a medical emergency at today’s U.S. Open at Congressional Country Club in Potomac, Maryland. Police officers, detailed as player security escorts, were summoned to the 11th fairway at 10:22 a.m. for the report of a spectator who had just collapsed.

Responding to the scene, police officers, fire and rescue personnel and physicians from George Washington Hospital who are members of the event’s medical team rendered immediate aid and administered CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation). The patient was transferred to an on-scene ambulance and transported to a local hospital in serious condition.
