Living Sustainably

What Does it Mean to Live Sustainably?

To live sustainably, one strives to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. People living sustainably recognize the fundamental and inextricable interdependence between the economy, the environment, and social equity, and work to promote each to the benefit of all.

Why Focus on Sustainability?

There is growing evidence that the world community is living beyond its environmental means with adverse effects on the quality of life both locally and around the world. In short, this pattern cannot be sustained. Sustainability, as an organizing principle and value, provides the lens through which we can understand the interrelationship between and balance among social, environmental, and business issues and thus work to enhance the quality of life.
