The Montgomery County Department of Correction and Rehabilitation (MCDOCR) are required to house a wide variety of inmates with different charges, backgrounds, and needs. To accommodate these variables, the MCDOCR utilizes an ongoing classification process.

This process begins when an inmate is received at the Montgomery County Detention Center, which is a 72 hour holding facility, and continues if and when the inmate is transferred to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility, which is for inmates who are incarcerated beyond 72 hours.
