The Pre-Release Accounting Office is part of Management Services Division (MSD) Fiscal Services section responsible for the accounting activity of all Pre-Release and Reentry Services (PRRS) residents participants. Services include maintaining cash receipts and cash disbursements for over 850 residents annually.
The Section is responsible for ensuring that PRRS meets all its obligations in proper handling of offender's funds. Accounting staff process all the disbursements from each offenders' account as approved by PRRS staff.
All PRRS program participants are required to pay program fees and the Accounting Office ensures that fees are collected and remitted to Montgomery County Department of Finance policies and procedures, as well as any other fees charged to participants' accounts.
The Accounting Office is responsible for general accounting duties such as preparing monthly and annual financial statements for the escrow funds in accordance with general accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
