Montgomery County Pre-Release and Reentry Services
Internship Information

Pre-Release and Reentry (PRRS) Services provides both paid and unpaid intern experiences. Intern Work Experiences can include:
  • Supervise and monitor residents within the facility and in the community
  • Organize and supervise leisure activities for residents
  • Act as role model and mentor for residents
  • Learn and practice communication and crisis intervention skills
  • Administer alcohol and drug tests
  • Provide assistance with security, safety and orderly operations of the facility
  • Tutor residents
  • Case management
  • Assist residents with career resources
  • Research projects

Community Corrections Internship (Paid)

Requirements

  • At least 21 year of age
  • Completion of at least two years of college, with one year in criminal justice, behavioral science, or human services related discipline
  • Valid Driver's License with no restrictions
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation and physical exam to include drug screening
  • Selection through an in-person interview
  • A minimum of 24 hours per week required
  • A minimum of a four month commitment to internship

Benefits:

  • Income of approximately $300 every two weeks
  • Weekly individual and group training
  • Montgomery County Government training
  • Eligible for Free Ride-On bus pass

Go to Careers and Internships.  The position is listed as Mont County Internship Program (community correctional intern).  Interviews will be scheduled as positions become available (approximately 4 times per year).  Please contact Internship Coordinator for more information. 

Academic Internships (unpaid)

In conjunction with a college or university, PRRS offers supervision for various human services related degrees.  Time commitment and responsibilities vary with respect to school requirements and staff availability.  Contact Internship Coordinator for inquiries.
