DRIVER TRAINING COMPETENCIES

  Written Exam Process:

  • E-mail Capt. Walker (Derrell.Walker@montgomerycountymd.gov) to request to take the written examination. You must include the following information in the subject line: date and type of written test you are requesting to attend.

 

  • Written examination are administered at the Driver Training Building, promptly starts at 0900 hours on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month. The remaining dates for 2010 and 2011 are:
    • January 2012

      • 8 (B) & 22 (A)
    • March 2012
      • 14 (A) & 28 (C)
    • April 2012
      • 11 (B) & 25 (A)
    • May 2012
      • 9 (C) & 23 (B)

Practical Exam Procedures:

  • Practical tests for all vehicles will be administered at  the PSTA while on duty. The tests are scheduled by appointment only. The station officer must e-mail the request with three proposed dates to the Driver Training Coordinator (DTC). The DTC will choose one date and e-mail the station officer back in a timely manner. Once the station officer receives confirmation they must notify the Battalion Chief to place the time and date on the apparatus tracker. The staion officer will review the training package to ensure that all components have been completed prior to test day (failure to complete assignments will result in the applicants test to be immediatly discontinued and the unit will be returned to service) You must obtain a 70% grade or higher on all evolutions to continue with the driver training process. If the applicant fails to achieve the minimum score of 70% they must wait a minimum of 30 days prior to rescheduling a re-test for practical evolutions.
