Conducts psychoeducational evaluations for diagnostic purposes to assess cognitive, achievement, intellectual and processing functioning for individuals who want to investigate whether they may have a learning disability, ADHD (ADD), processing deficit, psychological condition (e.g., anxiety, depression) that may be impacting upon their ability to achieve at a level of the innate abilities.

Single point of entry that provides free (for Montgomery County residents) developmental screenings and assessments for children aged 2 years 10 months up through the spring prior to age eligibility for kindergarten. This office is also the single point of entry for families moving into the county whose preschool children have been previously identified and have a current Individualized Educational Program (IEP). Families with concerns about their preschooler's development, who are nonresidents of Montgomery County with a child attending a MSDE approved preschool within Montgomery County, may also contact the MCPS Child Find Office.

Dyslexia Tutoring Program

Non-profit agency that trains volunteer tutors to teach reading to students with a dyslexic style of learning who cannot afford private tutoring services. Screening assessments and tutoring services are free to anyone who meets income requirements.

Evaluations and assessments are conducted for children when there is a concern about the achievement of a developmental milestone. Children who are eligible for services receive early intervention services through an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) designed to achieve outcomes determined by the early intervention team which includes the family and other providers. Early intervention services include family centered interventions from a speech/language therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, special educator, social worker, interim and on-going service coordinator, infant/adult mental health specialist, and psychologist.

Outpatient program for evaluation and treatment of children from preschool through adolescence for problems in autism spectrum, language development, learning and intellect, behavior or school adjustment. The Center's team investigates the problems, offering families appropriate diagnosis and treatments for the child's problems. The staff also provides medical management, counseling and educational evaluation services for children and their families.

Specialize in the assessment, treatment, and prevention of emotional, behavioral and developmental problems in infants and young children. The Early Head Start Program provides comprehensive, year-round, child and family development services to low-income families with children, prenatal to three years old. The Therapeutic Nursery Program (TNP) is a specialized preschool that addresses the needs of young children three to five years of age with emotional and behavioral problems that may interfere with success in a regular preschool or day care setting. The Parent-Child Clinical Services Program is a licensed outpatient mental health clinic that offers a comprehensive approach to the early identification, treatment and prevention of emotional, behavioral and developmental problems in infants, young children and their families. The Lourie Center School serves children from nursery (age four) through grade five who have complex emotional and behavioral disabilities and multiple disabilities which interferes with a student's ability to learn in a traditional school setting.
