We proudly remember and pay tribute to our fallen soldiers who have died in service to our country.


Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF)
Fallen Hero Army Spc. Thomas J. Barbieri
Army Spc. Thomas J. Barbieri, 24, of Gaithersburg, Maryland.
Barbieri died when his patrol encountered enemy forces small arms fire during combat operations. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division,
Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Died on August 23, 2006. 


Fallen Hero Marine Cpl. Kirk J. Bosselmann
Marine Cpl. Kirk J. Bosselmann, 21, of Dickerson, Maryland. Bosselmann died as a result of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Died November 27, 2004.

Fallen Hero Army Spc. Armer N. Burkart

Army Spc. Armer N. Burkart, 26, of Rockville, Maryland.

Burkart died of injuries sustained in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV during combat patrol operations. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York. Died on May 11, 2006. 

Fallen Hero Army Spc. Jonathan D. Cadavero
Army Spc. Jonathan D. Cadavero, 24, of Takoma Park, Maryland. Cadavero died of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle in Baghdad, Iraq. He was assigned to the 2nd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division in Fort Drum, NY. Died February 27, 2007.

Fallen Hero Marine Sgt. Alessandro Carbonaro
Marine Sgt. Alessandro Carbonaro, 28, of Bethesda, Maryland.
Carbonaro died at
Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany, from wounds received while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Al Anbar province, Iraq, on May 1, 2006. He was assigned to 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Died on May 10, 2006

Fallen Hero Army Spc. Thomas K. Doerflinger

Army Spc. Thomas K. Doerflinger, 20, of Silver Spring, Maryland.

Doerflinger died in Mosul, Iraq, when his unit received small arms fire while conducting combat operations. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Washington. Died on November 11, 2004.

Army Staff Sgt. Robert Hernandez, 47, of Silver Spring, Maryland. Hernandez died in Al Taquaddum, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV during combat operations. He was assigned to the Army Reserve's 3rd Battalion, 318th Regiment, 1st Brigade, 80th Division (Institutional Training), Fort Meade, Maryland. Died on March 28, 2006

Fallen Hero Marine Sgt. James R. McIlvaine
Marine Sgt. James R. McIlvaine, 26, of Olney, Maryland. McIlvaine died in Baharia, Iraq, while supporting combat operations. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, California. Died on April 30th, 2009.

Fallen Hero Marine Col. Michael R. Stahlman
Marine Col. Michael R. Stahlman, 45, of Chevy Chase, Maryland. Stahlman died from injuries sustained in a nonhostile incident in Anbar province, Iraq. He was assigned to Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California. Died on October 5th, 2008.

Operation Enduring Freedom
Fallen Hero Army Capt. Brian M. Bunting
Army Capt. Brian M. Bunting, 29, of Potomac, Maryland.
Bunting died in
Kandahar, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near their vehicle. He was a member of the Individual Ready Reserve, assigned to the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Syracuse, New York. Died on February 24, 2009.

Marine Lance Cpl. Dennis J. Burrow
Marine Lance Cpl. Dennis J. Burrow, 23, of Gaithersburg, Maryland. Burrow died in the Helmand province in Afghanistan while supporting combat operations. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Died on August 7, 2009.

Army Lt. Col. David E. Cabrera, 41, of Olney, Maryland. Cabrera died in Kabul province, Afghanistan. He was a licensed clinical social worker and Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Died on October 29, 2011.

Fallen Hero Army Pfc. Justin R. Davis
Army Pfc. Justin R. Davis, 19, of Gaithersburg, Maryland. Davis died in Korengal Outpost, Afghanistan (near Kunar Province), when he came in contact with indirect fire while on patrol during combat operations. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, New York. Died on June 25, 2006.

Fallen Hero Navy Lt. (SEAL) Brendan J. Looney
Navy Lt. (SEAL) Brendan J. Looney, 29, of Silver Spring, MD. Looney died in the Zabul province, Afghanistan, in a helicopter crash during combat operations. Looney was assigned to a West Coast-based SEAL Team. Died on September 21, 2010.

Fallen Hero Army Spc. Anthony A. Paci
Army Spc. Anthony A. Paci, 30, of Rockville, Maryland. Paci died in Gereshk, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered during a vehicle rollover. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry, 5th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. Died on March 4, 2010.

Fallen Hero Army CWO Bruce E. Price
Army CWO Bruce E. Price, 37, of Chevy Chase, Maryland. Price died in Kajaki, Afghanistan, when individuals using rocket-propelled grenades and small arms fire ambushed his unit. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Died on May 15, 2004.

Fallen Hero Spc. Barun Rai
Spc. Barun Rai, 24, of Silver Spring, Maryland. Rai died in Logar Province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained during a vehicle rollover. He was assigned to the 54th Engineer Battalion, 18th Engineer Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, Warner Barracks, Bamberg, Germany. Died August 3, 2011.

Fallen Hero Army Spc. Rodrigo A. Munguia Rivas
Army Spc. Rodrigo A. Munguia Rivas, 27, of Germantown, Maryland. Rivas died in Bagram, Afghanistan, of wounds from indirect fire after his unit came under attack. He was assigned to 710th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, NY. Died June 21, 2009.

Fallen Hero Army Lt. Col. James J. Walton
Army Lt. Col. James J. Walton, 41, of Rockville, Maryland. Walton died in Kandahar, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device and small-arms fire. He was assigned to a Military Transition Team, 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas. Died June 21st, 2008.
