As an Ombudsmen Representative, we:
Ø Empower- residents to voice concerns within the long term care setting in which they live by providing information, support and appropriate follow up.
Ø Encourage- by providing support and assistance to resolve problems.
Ø Protects- privacy and confidentiality of residents and those who are involved with the ombudsman services
Ø Advocate- improvements and changes in relevant legislation and policy
Ø Educates- the community about the Long-Term Care Facilities and how they operate.
How to become a Volunteer:
Volunteers are continually needed to provide Montgomery County long term care residents with direct access to advocacy services through regular visitis to area nursing homes and licensed assisted living facilities. An extensive training program is offered for new volunteers to provide a thorough orientation to the aging process, long-term care systems, and advocay skills.
