The Office of Consumer Affairs (OCA) is a new and unique office where people with mental illness, their family members, friends, peers and advocates can explore mental illness in a safe, supportive, recovery-oriented atmosphere. The OCA staff are available to provide education and problem solving strategies regarding mental health and/or mental health/substance abuse (co-occurring disorders) including: information regarding referrals, housing options, supportive employment, benefits & entitlements, and services available in the community. The OCA staff and the steering committee is consumer-run and all work to provide input for behavioral health activities, policies, programs and services and activities. The OCA operates Monday through Friday and offers monthly educational forums, workshops. Appointments with individual consumers are available by request.

On Our Own of Montgomery County operates a consumer-run, self-help, drop-in center for adults with serious and persistent mental illness. This consumer program operates seven days a week and offers peer support groups, educational forums and social/ recreational activities for its members.
