Montgomery County African American Health Program

The Office of the County Executive, Office of Community Outreach, and the Department of Health and Human Services held its first African American Health Initiative Planning meeting on February 8,1999. The purpose of the meeting was to form community-based coalitions to address infant mortality, oral cancer, diabetes and HIV/AIDS that disproportionately affect African Americans. The coalitions will develop goals, objectives and recommend strategies to address these and other health status disparities that are affecting African Americans in Montgomery County at a much higher rate than other citizens.

Each of the four coalitions are holding separate meetings to address these issues. The meetings are open to any one interested in being a part of a coalition that will address ways to eliminate health disparities.

This calendar will be updated regularly.
