from contractors, at a cost paid by their departments.
Montgomery County has one contractor each for
telephone
interpretation,
on-site
interpretation and
written
translation.
About Sign Language Interpretation: Montgomery County hires a
contractor company to provide sign language interpretations. Since
sign language is not an LEP language resource,

Montgomery County's current telephone interpretation vendor is Voiance.
The contract is administered by the Police Department.
Voiance is a 24/7
year-round interpretation service that
charges per
minute. An account
number and a PIN are needed to use the
service. Please ask your Department Liaison for the existing account
number and PIN. To obtain a new account for your
organization, call 800-481-3289 for a client services representative.

About the
Contracts: The County's
current contracts with the two
companies, Lionbridge and Schreiber, are bridged from the State of Maryland's
contracts. The County will continue obtaining on-site interpretations
and translation services by
bridging the State’s contracts in the future.
The contract with Voiance is
administered by the Police Department;
the rest of the contracts are administered by the Department
of Health and Human
Services.
