Director's Report
Welcome to the Montgomery County Public Libraries
We want MCPL to be your destination for information, reading materials, cultural events and family programs. If you are not already one of our valued customers with a library card, I invite you to sign up for one today. Your library account gives you free access to books, DVDs, online resources and much more!
This year in February, MCPL will be rolling out our new communication tool - CHECK US OUT. This e-newsletter will not only continue to keep you updated on pertinent information about MCPL happenings, but also you can sign up to receive CHECK US OUT via email.
Watch for programs and events of interest at your local branch; keep abreast of library construction projects; learn about library services - stay informed with CHECK US OUT.
On Monday, January 20, 2013, Montgomery County will honor the life and accomplishments of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by participating in the national day of service.
In 1983, legislation was signed creating a federal holiday to commemorate the birthday of Dr. King. In 1994, Congress designated this federal holiday as a national day of service. Every year on the third Monday in January, Americans are called to work together to provide solutions to strengthen our communities. This is the only federal holiday observed as a "day on, not a day off."
Find out how you can get involved!
February is Library Lovers Month! On Saturday, February 2, 2013, join Friends of the Library, Montgomery County, Inc. and MCPL at Kensington Park Library for the kickoff featuring DinoRock. The performance is scheduled for 11:00 AM. The first 100 Library Lovers will be admitted. All ages are welcome.
Got a new e-reader? Use your library card to check out e-books for adults, teens, and children on the Maryland Digital eLibrary / OverDrive.
County Executive Leggett invites you to, "Have your say on what next year's county budget will look like." Attend one or all of his five public forums on the FY14 Operating Budget. All meetings are scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM.
