  Project Description:


The Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad (WVRS) is planning to relocate from its existing facility to a new two-story 29,000 gsf facility located at the corner of Georgia Avenue and Arcola Avenue. The facility will be a Class 1 Rescue Station with 7,400 sf of community room and kitchen on the upper floor. This is a participation project with the County to contribute approximately 50% of the total cost of the project.

  Project Status:

The County serves in a general oversight, and financial partner for this project. The Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad holds the design (Hughes Group) and construction (Milestone) contracts, and will have all maintenance responsibility for the new facility. The groundbreaking ceremony for this project is July 14, 2012. The project is on schedule for completion late summer 2013.
