Project 3: Public Safety Training Academy (PSTA)

3A-PSTA Academic Building (119,334 GSF,
Building Height = 30’- 8”)
The firing range, gymnasium and building support portions of the building will be a one story structure consisting of load bearing masonry bearing and shear walls and steel columns. Roof framing at this area will be long span open web steel joists spanning from the exterior masonry walls to an interior masonry wall and steel columns. This portion of the structure will be separated from the remaining 2 story steel frame building by a building expansion joint.
The remaining portion of the building is composed of two story areas. Roof framing consists of open web steel joists supported by steel beams that span between interior steel columns. The second floor level consists of a concrete slab on composite metal deck. The slab is supported by a system of steel beams and girders designed to act compositely with the slab. Floor structure is supported by steel columns. The lateral system will be steel moment frames; braced frames will be used at the gymnasium area.
The roof of the entire building at 2 story and one story
portions will be covered by green roof.
3C-PSTA Fire Training Building:
Residential (4,850 GSF, Building Height = 29’- 4”) and
3E-PSTA High Bay & Fire Training Support Building (12,000 GSF, Building Height = 51’- 0”)
3G-PSTA Canine Training Building (6,000 GSF, Building Height = 17’- 8”)
3KLMNOP-PSTA Multi-use Cityscape Structures (about 12,000 GSF, Building Height = 15’- 0” to 28’- 4”)
The Cityscape structures will be wood frame construction. Wall construction will be load bearing sawn lumber studs with wood sheathing panels for lateral shear walls. Floor and roof construction will consist of joists of sawn or engineered wood members as appropriate for span requirements. Floors and roofs will have wood sheathing panels.
3Q-DOT Vehicle Training Support Building (2,075 GSF, Building Height = 17’- 8”)
The Vehicle Training Support Building will be wood frame construction having load bearing sawn lumber studs with wood sheathing panels for lateral shear walls. Roof construction will consist of joists of sawn or engineered wood members as appropriate for span requirements with wood sheathing panels.
3R-Fuel Facility (2,095 GSF)
The Fuel Facility is a sheltered building which provides fuel for the agencies vehicles located at the site. The facility is planned as such that natural gas equipment can also be added for vehicles that use natural gas to operate.
