Due to the high volume of applications submitted for the Tax Credit for Renewable Energy Devices (Solar and Geothermal), Montgomery County has a substantial backlog of applications awaiting funding for the Tax Credit. Due to the backlog, tax credits for eligible applications may not have funding available for up to 5 years or more. As applications are processed in the order in which they are received, the exact wait will depend on when the application was received.

Effective November 8, 2011: The Property Tax Credit for Solar and Geothermal Energy Devices has been suspended. Tax Credits will not be granted for solar or geothermal devices for any application received after November 8, 2011, unless an individual:
1) enters into a contract for eligible costs on or before November 8, 2011, and
2) applies for the tax credit on or before November 8, 2012
