Excellence in Recycling at Multi-Family Properties
Awarded to multi-family properties that recycled at
least 50% of their waste in 2005
Recipient: The Gallery at White Flint Place
Reason for being recognized: The Gallery at White Flint Place recycled 50 percent of their waste in 2005. They consistently strive to improve their program and work to maintain the most clearly labeled trash and recycling rooms in the County. The program is carefully monitored and recycling rules are strictly enforced.
Recipient: Hampshire Village
Reason for being recognized:The Hampshire Village management team and maintenance staff works cooperatively with Montgomery County to provide their residents with the best recycling program possible. Hampshire Village recycled 84 percent of its waste generated in 2005.
Recipient: Holly Hall Apartments
Reason for being recognized: The management team at Holly Hall continues to raise tenant awareness by providing on-going education. Management believes that the key to their success is to make recycling fun, so they developed an original recycling word scramble game to achieve maximum recycling participation. As a result of their efforts, Holly Hall leads the way for all multi-family properties with an outstanding 92 percent recycling rate.
Recipient: The Palisades of Bethesda
Reason for being recognized: The recycling program at the Palisades of Bethesda is clean, well marked and convenient for all tenants. The property manager is open to on-going suggestions to ensure program success. As a result, the property recycled 89 percent of their waste in 2005.
Recipient: Victory Terrace
Reason for being recognized: The management team and residents at Victory Terrace Senior Living Facility takes an active role of monitoring their recycling program on a regular basis. As a result of their efforts, Victory Terrace recycled 70 percent of their waste generated in 2005.
Outstanding Achievement in Multi-family Properties
Awarded to multi-family properties for their outstanding efforts in recycling.
Recipient: Maplewood Park Place
Reason for being recognized:The management staff at Maplewood Park Place is extremely dedicated to recycling. With educational assistance provided by the County, recycling has become a number one priority. Maplewood Park Place’s recycling program continues to achieve higher heights and greater success.
Recipient: Triangle Towers Apartment Homes
Reason for being recognized: In 1989, Triangle Towers Apartment Homes started their recycling program. Today, their residents continue to participate with great enthusiasm and the management team has recognized the importance of on-going education. Triangle Towers continues to improve their recycling efforts and aim for excellence.
Recipient: Twin Towers Apartment Homes
Reason for being recognized: The management at Twin Towers Apartment Homes continues to work with County staff and has made improvements to their recycling program to achieve results. Increased tenant education and awareness has resulted in increased recycling participation.
Outstanding Achievement in Recycling by an Individual
Awarded to individuals at multi-family properties for their outstanding
efforts in recycling
Recipient: Mr. Eric Astran, Kay Management
Reason for being recognized: Mr. Eric Astran was proactive in ensuring that Kay Management’s nine multi-family properties came into compliance with Executive Regulation 15-04AM. Under Eric’s direction, all necessary changes were made to achieve compliance. Eric continues to seek assistance to ensure that their recycling programs continue to achieve success.
Recipient: Mr. Brad Kline, Leisure World of Maryland
Reason for being recognized: Mr. Brad Kline has worked closely with the County to ensure that Leisure World of Maryland complies with all recycling regulations. His positive attitude and enthusiasm has rubbed off on tenants and management staff. Tenant education at Leisure World has taken center stage and each manager is contributing to their recycling success. Brad is definitely pioneering the way for Leisure World to have one of the best recycling programs.
