Resource Recovery Facility: Environmental Issues

Air | Water | Traffic | Noise | Ash

Traffic

Using a railway system to transport waste in and out of the facility is not only energy efficient, but environmentally sound. At facilities of this size, it is typical for up to 750 trucks to bring refuse into the facility each day. Another 25 to 50 trucks per day would leave the site hauling the ash residue. With the rail system, truck traffic has been minimized, and additional vehicle emissions have been avoided in this rural part of Montgomery County.
