Street Lighting: Upgrades

Upgrades are primarily limited to designated “High Crime & Drug Use Areas” (contact your local police district for concurrence and processing).

Upgrades of overhead-fed Mercury Vapor (MV) streetlights to High Pressure Sodium Vapor (HPSV) may be considered on a case by case basis. For example, if a street has nine usable utility poles with four existing MV streetlights and we are proposing to install five new HPSV streetlights, we would consider installing new HPSV lights on all nine poles.
