We appreciate all of the written and oral feedback received in response to the proposal for alternative routing on the Route 38 submitted to the public for comments in March 2013. We also want to thank the residents, and especially the speakers who attended our Public Forum held on Wednesday, April 17, 2013. After careful review and consideration, Ride On has decided to implement the proposed routing change to the Route 38 shown below. The change will become effective on Sunday, June 9, 2013. When timetables are completed, they will be available online and in Metrorail stations. The actual times for the schedules of Route 38 will stay the same as before.
The new routing of the Route 38 will be as follows:
All buses will turn off Veirs Mill Road at Claridge Road, travel along Medway Street, Judson Street, Parker Avenue, and Newport Mill Road, and then continue along Veirs Mill Road to Wheaton or White Flint Stations.
NOTE: This routing has been reversed from the original proposal to more safely serve the neighborhood.

The Holiday Schedule On Your Route May Have Changed.
Because of changes effective January 13, 2013, routing or schedules on these routes have changed since we published holiday schedules for Veteranās Day:
38, 42, 47, 52, 53, 58, 98
On the above holidays, Ride On will operate a modified holiday schedule on these Federal holidays when ridership is far less than a normal weekday. Because we understand that some riders who work for other employers still need to get to work or to other destinations, we will be operating service on every route except route 94. Schedules will include fewer trips during the day, but service starts and ends at approximately the same time as a weekday schedule. These eleven routes will operate on the same Monday ā Friday weekday schedule as normal with no changes:Routes 4, 7, 32, 36, 44, 52, 63, 66, 67, 81, and 93
Route 94 will not operate
Operating the modified holiday schedule more accurately matches service with actual ridership on those holidays, therefore saving costs while also helping the environment.Click here to view detailed special holiday schedules by route.

Montgomery Countyās Ride On bus system will run a special modified holiday schedule on Thursday, July 19 and Friday, July 20, 2012. The schedule is available here. There will be three exceptions to the posted schedule to add additional service. Route 2 will provide service to Walter Reed; Route 38 will provide service to the U.S. Postal Training Academy and Route 54 will provide service to NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology). The holiday schedule reduces the frequency of service, but all routes will have bus service. The holiday service level is generally about 80 percent of the normal weekday service. Under this modified schedule, some routes are unaffected. First and last trips for the day for each route will be similar to the start and end times for a normal weekday route. This change in Ride Onās schedule for Thursday and Friday is necessary because 26 buses were permanently removed from service today due to safety concerns. Ride On will operate normal Saturday and Sunday schedules this weekend.Further information about next weekās service will be available later this week.

Ride On Service Changes Begin Sunday, September 5
Earlier this year to deal with Montgomery Countyās $1 billion budget shortfall, Ride On proposed service reductions to help reduce the deficit. These reductions represented about 7.5 percent of all Ride On service and included route and route segment eliminations and reductions in frequency of service.Based on public input from a February 1 public forum, the fiscal year (FY) 2011 County budget approved by the Montgomery County Council on May 27 avoided many of the initially proposed cuts. The result was a 2.3 percent reduction of all Ride On service with no full Ride On routes eliminated. These changes are likely to result in more crowded buses, but overall service will be preserved. The service changes that will become effective Sunday, September 5 include:
